Mechanical engine monitoring and shutdown
Description
A combination of a C3 digital input and output can provide a simple method to
add after-market monitoring and shutdown control of an engine. Leveraging the

of the engine. A normally closed relay contact can be used to shutdown the engine
remotely.
Electrical connection
• The power connection to the fuel solenoid or ignition of the engine
can be wired directly to a C3 input (tolerant of 24 V systems)
• The existing engine protection system will cut power to this connection if
an engine over-temperature or oil under-pressure condition is present
• A generic automotive relay can be wired in-line with the solenoid

on for a short period of time to shut the engine down (Figure 39)
Installation notes
• The automotive relay is best connected as close as possible to the fuel
solenoid/ignition connection
• The relay would typically be housed within the existing engine protection
system enclosure
